Original Concepts for Water Garden Ponds

A great idea to adorn formal water ponds is a container of some type, either empty or planted up. This may be as easy as ordinary clay plant-pot, stuffed with geraniums, or what you may will find or lug home from foreign parts. It is actually simple to grab some very attractive pots, during the tourist spots, at good prices, so long because they don’t exceed weight allowance, it’ll be worth the effort to getting it well.

Among my favourite gardens has a large Turkish coffee-pot, of beautifully greened copper, ready the swimming pool. It was rescued from your closing down cafe in a country town and, despite its exotic looks, was very much in the home in this Hampshire garden.

Some simple urns and pitchers may be used, added to their side. At the edge of the pool, as being a gentle fountain, with water pouring from your top, and returned, by some discreet piping plus a submersible pump. A good option to find these include auctions, jumble sales, junk shops, etc. Even quite unpromising shapes can be used as the basis on your skills. Hideous colours might be painted over, ugly shapes may be used as armatures and built upon, etc.

For informal water ponds, there are lots of choices: plants, stones, boulders, pebbles, logs or various combinations of these, with areas of turf and maybe a bench, of some rugged sort, so that it’s possible to sit and meditate. This last, naturally, can be useful, in the slightly more sophisticated shape, through the formal pool.

The irregular shaped water garden pond isn’t the place for statues, except just possibly an especially strong-shaped abstract, more boulder-like than spiky. An interesting natural boulder or rock could look right, and so could a log or part of driftwood. Anyone sufficiently fortunate to get locate a large fossil, such as an ammonite, could do it at the lake to find out if it looked happy, and the morbid might be satisfied with a cattle-skull within the Hostas.

Fountains do not belong here and besides, the Waterlilies do not much care for moving water, although in the event the pool is big enough you could have water gurgling gently into the pool from your stream, natural or man-made, while planting waterlilies in a calm patch in the far wall.
