Within the third article in the series on the “miracle” as well as the “mind,” we are going to bring kindness and unkindness to the discussion about specialness. In A Course in Miracles (ACIM), kindness is a member of humility and learning and unkindness is with arrogance and specialness. The miracle-minded obviously choose humility, learning and kindness which suggests they’re going to eventually learn to forgive all specialness that is what maintains the separation from God. Belief in separation applies to if you are normally the one Son perceiving Himself separate as well as fragments. All unkindness stems from the anxiety in the mind whenever we repress our fear and guilt rather than forgiving our specialness desires. We blame and project it onto other individuals who are really an integral part of us actually.
There are 2 books by Kenneth Wapnick on, “The Healing Power Kindness.” Volume 1 is on, “Releasing Judgment” and Volume 2 on, “Forgiving Our Limitations.” I think, these ought to be required reading and continuing study for everybody who is a serious Course student. The next passage says all of it:
When you schedule the brilliant metaphysics of your Course in Miracles as well as its sophisticated psychological insights, the Course could be pared down to one particular rule: Be kind. If you are not kind, then not only do you think you’re not practicing the program, fat loss you can even start to comprehend it. Regardless how brilliant knowing of their metaphysics may be, if you are not being kind toward somebody else, you are not doing what this product is asking (The Healing Power of Kindness, Vol.1: Releasing Judgment by Kenneth Wapnick, p. 10, underline mine).
In spite of this admonition, we refer to being unkind:
This being unable to truly practice A Course in Miracles’ kind principles of forgiveness that they can study, and occasionally teach, has perhaps been probably the most serious failing among its students. This book’s sequel, “Few Opt to Listen,” discusses how students often conceal their thought system of specialness under the guise of spiritual counseling or friendship. The absence of simple kindness is, unfortunately, unmistakable to all or any except the program student making the spiritual pronouncements (The material Of the Course in Miracles: Are all Called, p. 306).
The non-dualistic meaning of kindness is not understood here from the example of dualism providing that specialness is continuously chosen as the ego arises from an unkind thought against God and Heaven. Our unwillingness to identify this in regards to the ego, and just what all that thought product is capable of singing, is something that hinders our progress using the Course. We should be willing to check out the ego with all the Holy Spirit – the true Teacher – and take that darkness to Him for forgiveness. Nothing could be hidden which is away from the Course.
Kindness To Others Is Kindness To Self
In their books on kindness, Mr. Wapnick also references the foundation of an person’s unkind behavior is identical fear (and repressed guilt) which is working in your own mind and that’s what unites us. We’ve got exactly the same right-mind along with the same power to make a choice from them. Opting to be kind will not make us different or better; rather this means we’re willing to practice the “kind principles” in the Course to ensure that we can easily discover how to understand everything it really is teaching. It’s simply a question of priority.
He goes on to say that to learn the best way to be kind towards others, we have been practicing being kind toward ourselves because, “you plus your brother are one. They’re part of you. You aren’t different.” This holds straight away to the center in the ego’s thought system wherein the very idea of difference is when the ego began – God with his fantastic Son were separate and different – and undoes it. Perhaps the slightest hint of specialness could be the ego. What he’s saying becomes clear if you actually study and employ the sort forgiveness in the Course!
A serious student with the Course wants to know very well what this means. These students would rather be described as a happy learner together with the only true teacher – the Holy Spirit – instead of a spiritually special teacher from the ego of any type. They’re happy to learn from Him the way to be clear of the burdens associated with denying the Truth:
Forgiveness’ kindness is obscure in the beginning, because salvation is just not understood, nor truly sought for (S-2.I.1). And here you may lay out the load of denying truth. This is actually the burden that is certainly terrible, and never the truth (T-21-VI.7).
Self versus “self” -or- Identity versus “identity”
From the Course, there is a among the “Self” which is our true Identity as Christ along with the “self” identity using the ego. This can be a heavily weighed to comprehend as the first accepts the function God gave us through being God-created; but the latter is self-created and completely dependent upon the ego along with its purpose of vengeance tweaking separation. Everyone already believes those are the ego. We couldn’t survive here otherwise. To take into consideration the possibly of these being correct and in necessity of correction restores hope to your head because it points to the way in which out.
When a spiritually special Course teacher (a type of unhealed healer) teaches specialness with the ego, these are being unkind towards others and so themselves but they are highly unlikely to see it like that. They are also not likely to consentrate it’s kind for someone to get boundaries using them since their fear and guilt (and anxiety) are very great. However, honestly studying the world, we view that it is stuffed with the fragmented Sonship that’s anxiety-ridden from identifying with all the ego self. Unkindness is rampant on earth as well as in this course community. As Wapnick states though, we won’t discover the Course until we decide to become kind.
Our behaviors are the tyoe of which mind we now have chosen (God or perhaps the ego). The ego is really a vengeful and tyrannical thought system of unkindnesses whereas freedom from this is tied straight away to kindness:
Without anxiety your head is wholly kind (T-6.III.3).
Freedom is not learned by tyranny of any kind (T-8.IV.7).
It is usually unkind to switch the program and spiritual specialness does that through competition with God and so everyone. One small change effectually changes the entirety from the Course, an utter thought system. If you think maybe you understand that, you never. If you know you need to do, you will automatically be kind for you comprehend the inherent value kindness plays to learn and comprehending the Course. As Wapnick states, “It’s a question of priority.”
When Kindness Calls
To conclude, let’s turnaround for the how to Mr. Wapnick and his awesome book, “The Message Of A Course In Miracles: Few Opt to Listen,” and also to Chapters 4 and 6 on spiritual specialness. I’ll highlight some important passages starting with an incredibly telling quote. First, however, permit me to also include that this two-book set (including, “Few Elect to Listen”) should also be required ongoing study for serious Course students:
“Love is frightening which is all-encompassing and there there is absolutely no room for specialness or individual uniqueness.”
He goes on to mention any time we’re lured to call focus on what we think is a few deficiency, or lack, we’re trying to make such limitation real and into something divides the Sonship. The rock of salvation is always that no-one can lose so another gains, i.e., there is nothing to take from another, not really their success. However, we do not appreciate this until following the necessary time dedicated to learning these particular words are actually correct in addition to their true meaning. What the body seem doing lets us know which internal teacher we’ve got chosen – the ego or even the Holy Spirit. The ego is limitations, judgment, specialness and separation – ab muscles the complete the Sonship together.
When we are not kind, we aren’t Course students or teachers of God (the program as our path). When kindness calls, it ought to be chosen as kindness brings about miracle-mindedness. Unkindness is from the ego.
