Creative Recommendations for Water Garden Ponds

A great idea to adorn formal water garden ponds is often a container of some sort or other, either empty or planted up. This could be as simple as ordinary clay plant-pot, stuffed with geraniums, or whatever you decide and can discover or lug home from foreign parts. It happens to be possible to pick-up some very attractive pots, during the tourist spots, at cheap pricing, and thus long as they don’t exceed weight allowance, it will likely be well worth the effort of having it well.

Certainly one of my favourite gardens features a large Turkish coffee-pot, of beautifully greened copper, near you the swimming pool. It was rescued from a closing down cafe in a country town and, despite its exotic looks, was very much in your own home in this Hampshire garden.

Some simple urns and pitchers can be used, put on their side. At the edge of the pool, as a gentle fountain, with water pouring in the top, and returned, by a few discreet piping along with a submersible pump. A good option to consider such as auctions, jumble sales, junk shops, etc. Even quite unpromising shapes bring the foundation for your skills. Hideous colours could be painted over, ugly shapes may be used as armatures and built upon, etc.

For informal water ponds, there are several choices: plants, stones, boulders, pebbles, logs or various combinations of these, with areas of turf and perhaps a bench, of some rugged sort, to ensure that one can sit and meditate. This last, of course, will be useful, within a slightly more sophisticated shape, from the formal pool.

The irregular shaped water pond is not place for statues, except just possibly an especially strong-shaped abstract, more boulder-like than spiky. An appealing natural boulder or rock could look right, therefore could a log or piece of driftwood. Anyone lucky enough to find a large fossil, such as an ammonite, could test it at the lake to ascertain if it looked happy, and the morbid might settle for a cattle-skull among the Hostas.

Fountains do not belong here and besides, the Waterlilies do not much maintain moving water, although when the pool is big enough you can have water gurgling gently in the pool from the stream, natural or man-made, while planting waterlilies inside a calm patch in the opposite side.
