More often than not, students who cross from 12th standard to varsity usually make their course choice according to any one of the following points:
1. Their loved ones (parents, siblings, relatives) “guide” the crooks to find a particular course since it is one of the most “in-demand” course then one can a get “well-paying” job following that one course.
2. They choose a particular course based on what “interests” them.
3. They undertake that course which they feel “looks interesting”.
4. They take up that course which their friends are receiving into.
5. They take admission because course in which they’re meeting the eligibility criteria, “any course” which is why they meet the eligibility criteria.
6. They go with a college they would like to get into, and then take admission in a course in which they are eligible in the college of their choice.
Here is the sad scenario this agreement school students make their career choice. Insufficient clarity, no proper guidance, pressure from family and friends, with an urgency some thing, anything – all of this prompts the little one to generate hasty and wrong career decisions. As a result, most of the students find yourself slogging inside their course, barely all through the school years, and finally, they end up making hasty and incorrect decisions about choosing their jobs and careers as well. What happens from then on is a thing all of us are aware of – misery and unhappiness in the job one is doing, dissatisfaction from everything, can not become successful despite making sincere efforts and working hard… along with the saga proceeds perpetually!
The foundation reason for this misery in one’s career could be the hasty and incorrect course decision taken during college admission time. If perhaps each student would give in most consideration in picking the “right” course, the difficulties later on can be reduced drastically.
How can really and should students pick a particular course? The simplest as well as option for this is to know what ones’ aptitude, personality and interests are. These compensate for ones inherent strengths and ones talent. If an individual knows their inherent strengths and talent, joined with a definite understanding of one’s interests, then the person will be able to create a better informed decision regarding their course. Also, considering that the person will be using an inherent flair towards that specific course, therefore, they are going to naturally have the ability to flourish in it. As a result, they’ll enjoy far more satisfaction and success in the field.
