Greg Kritikos was always destined to be a beloved comedic movie star. This gritty, street-wise, reformed gangster continues to be when compared with Jackie Gleason for his heart and appeal. CHARLIE BOY, based loosely on Greg Kritikos’ real life, follows the storyline of straight and sober recovering mobster Charlie Borakos. Charlie now works as a standup comedian and, after a period of recovery and providing returning to his beloved community of Astoria, Queens Ny, he or she is still burdened with the guilt of his son’s death and friend’s maiming on account of his drinking, drugging and negligence of history. Then when colleague Tommy G’s gambling problem surfaces for the extreme and the prior mob boss Big Angie moves back into town, Charlie’s benevolent and save-the-day attitude and knack for doing all he can to help others change misfortune into laughter, saves your day and catapults Charlie to another level of enlightenment.
Charlie Boy director Timothy Hines says, “It was Greg and Frederick’s script that drove me to generate Charlie Boy. We have worked within this business for years and that i haven’t ever read this type of perfectly balanced and honest comedy. I had to get this movie. And with Greg, some tips i can advise you, he could be a walking dynamo each inch an accessible humanist.”
