To tend to your own self is easier in theory when you’re the caregiver of the seriously ill child. Add to that other children, a spouse, cooking,cleaning,laundry,appointments, pets, church, other family members or an outside job and looking after you visits the foot of the list. Below are a few tricks to placed you at the very top again without feeling guilty.
1. Delegate…. There is no rule that claims you should do all this, regardless if you are mother or dad. Let others help, delegate smaller age appropriate jobs to the other siblings, and divide chores together with your spouse. Including the care to the sick child. Nobody person will do it all.
2. During points in the acute illness, have prepared or prepackaged meals available in the freezer. There’s nothing wrong which has a frozen pizza occasionally. Or make simple meals like scrambled eggs and bacon or pancakes. Have fresh fruit on hand too, for the quick pick me up and an easy snack for you.
3. Do household bills on the day that monthly rather than several times monthly. When your child has been ill, the periods and weeks run together so it is simpler to consider some day for bill paying. You are less inclined to miss a bill in fact it is less stressful.
4. Plan to take care of emails, telephone calls, along with other household business much the same way… on one day month after month a treadmill day weekly. Assign a spokesperson for the entire family for that in other cases through the month saving your time and efforts for the child and rest by yourself.
