For years I’ve been unable to catch this broadway tour in multiple cities. Something has long been in the manner. Between work, travel and anything else I always missed this show. In 2018 everything changed. I’d the grand privilege of attending media night for that Lion King Musical at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Discuss the most fitting location for this type of unprecedented ensemble.
I had been a kid if the movie was launched in theaters. My mother took my siblings and that i as to the will be one of the most celebrated Disney Classics of them all. The broadway. The tale was new personally but the message of hope was familiar. The tunes like “The Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata” might be heard within our household for a long time. To determine my favorite childhood movie performed on a live stage with this most prestigious venue was a dream come true.
This production is very honestly probably the most visually entrancing theatrical presentation that i’ve ever seen. From beginning to end, my senses were thrilled. As the house lights dimmed, the drums started and it was showtime. Buyi Zama was outstanding as Rafiki. She was the comic relief throughout the show. Her costume stood out and her performance was memorable.
Vibrant colors and abstract art laced the whole stage. The difference of Mufasa, as done by Gerald Ramsey, was riveting. I used to be so fascinated with the headpiece that he wore. He could fling it around like it absolutely was routine. Clearly it had been.
The dancing was simply captivating. It took me returning to my days in a dance company. The performers executed choreography seamlessly while gliding on the stage with grace. I saw many ballerinas too. They may be one of the hardest working teams I have ever witnessed on any platform.
Young Simba and Nala were remarkable performers. I really could tell they worked hard in their craft and understood blocking. It is essential for young performers to learn the art. It has to result from a genuine place. I do not even know them but I am proud.
Greg Jackson performed negligence Zazu. I kept track of him whole time. He blew my thoughts together with his quick wit while handling his puppet. I loved it!
Timon and Pumbaa were just like I remembered them as a kid. The rebel duo of the jungle. Their props were impressive. I couldn’t help but to sing together with “Hakuna Matata”.
Mark Campbell played the section of Scar much too well. His headpiece was fun to view too. The final scene with Mufasa is still tough to watch. My heart sank because he fell to his death.
Adult Simba was played by Gerald Ceasar. His portrayal was noteworthy. There was no doubt he was the actual king.
Nia Holloway was extraordinary as Nala. From her costume towards the delivery of her lines, she was phenomenal. I recently heard that she attended school in Georgia. Yes, another budding star in the peach state!
After a while, I personally began to believe that these actors were real animals. Their movements were very similar to the animal kingdom. Using their feathers, full mane and punctiliously crafted cloths it is really an experience that you could only fully appreciate live.
Audiences were used by what happened in front of them, nevertheless it wouldn’t be possible without those behind the curtain. Experience has educated me in a lot about the industry. Especially how vital background staff are. I applaud every one of the unseen heroes that helped to make this type of magnificent show a success. A manufacture of this magnitude is certainly not with out them.
There aren’t way too many words that I can use to describe this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch magic unfold on stage. A few things i can tell is the fact that Now i understand why this is actually the #1 musical on earth. Kudos to everyone involved with bringing this story alive night after night. All of you have introduced this masterpiece to another generation within the most incredible way.
