The tale of my mother and Whatsapp

It has been five years since Sami visited France to undertake his studies in engineering. He’s courageous, ambitious, smart, and highly sensitive. Sami returns to Lebanon 3 x annually, in April, August, and December.


Nada, his mother, is 55 years of age and does not work. When Sami announced to her which he could be planning to Paris to study, she was proud but in addition anxious. Scared and worried, she started sleeping less through the night, considering how her son would survive life in France. In the cold to women to food, everything worried her.
Before Sami left, he showed his mother utilizing Skype and promised to call occasionally to update her on his life, but he wasn’t sure this be enough.
Nada spent plenty of her days waiting for that Skype notification to find out and speak to her son. Each time Sami returned home, he pointed out that her face increasingly showed signs and symptoms of anxiety, which worried him a great deal. He became anxious but was convinced that his diploma from France provides him with a better life.
August 2017. Sami recently landed in Lebanon and goes home to see his parents. He examines
his mother’s face and sees something more important: she is smiling and looks relaxed.
What has happened since 2012
Combined with technological advancements, WhatsApp was brought to the world. This is revolutionary in many ways. Surprisingly, it changed Nada’s life. She is a simple learner and received a smartphone as a gift from her son. Sami is now share many specifics of his life together with her. Instantaneously, through voice messages, she could hear his voice at any time in the daytime. She can also video-call him even if he could be on the street, in a different country. Sami sometimes shares photos of his lunch, the elements, an article of clothing he desired to buy, and even pictures of his new girlfriend. Whenever she likes to anxious, she sends Sami a note, and a lot of the time, she receives an
instantaneous response.
Technology has been criticized a lot lately being a reason individuals are becoming distant, but in some cases, specifically for people living abroad, it has changed their lives.
